Driving Mr Handsome

Today my oldest son, Handsome, had his first driving lesson. He’s eleven! A company was running a promotion through GG’s work, offering a free driving lesson to kids between 11-16. Handsome just scraped over the lower height limit and so away he went. GG took him, and tells me that he was very good. The lessons are held on the top of a Cardiff multi-storey car park, and the kids get the opportunity to drive a real car and try a couple of manoeuvres. He even reverse parked! I just hope this doesn’t turn him into a petrol-head even before he hits his teens!

On tenterhooks…

I’m on tenterhooks this evening, wondering if we will have any more snow overnight. Will the school be open tomorrow? Will the kids ever finish their Christmas holiday? To be honest, given that I’ve not got to go to work I’m quite happy if the kids stay home. It just means no rushing round for me in the morning, and the opportunity to stay in the (relatively) warm of my home. However, if school’s shut again tomorrow I think I’ll make an effort to do something educational with them (more than the half hearted reading session I had with Cheeky on Friday, anyway! I might even get to a bit of maths, won’t that be exciting!).

Snow day!

So, my children’s school has eventually given way and closed for the day. We have less snow on the ground than we did on Tuesday (not enough to play in :-() but apparently the forecast is for heavy snow later today and I think they were worried about people getting home.

So I get to have an extra day with my kids – our views are inverted because they are cross that they can’t play with their friends, while I’m happy that they’re staying home. Surely there’s something awry there?!

I’ve got to go out at some point as my voice is fading in and out in quite a comedic way (so no phone call today, Mum and Dad) and I need to buy some throat sweets. I think I’ll do something creative today, although I’ve not decided whether it will take a culinary or a crochet-y direction yet! I got an amigurami book with my knitting magazine recently which has been looking at me invitingly ever since, so maybe I’ll do something from that. And then my wonderful mother in law is cooking my dinner tonight, so I don’t have to think about that – bonus!

I foresee a good day ahead!
