Looking forward to Sunday

Every Sunday that we don’t have to be anywhere in the morning, my lovely husband GG lets me sleep in until I wake myself up. And when I’m having busy weeks like this one I long for Sunday to arrive so that I can catch up with myself!

I’ve had a busy and productive couple of days, so I’m feeling pleased with myself, just very tired! Thanks to Jo I fetched back my tabletop freezer from my Mother in law’s house and so I have extra space for cooking in bulk and freezing portions. I have also cleared out a couple of bags of rubbish from my kitchen cupboards (it was long overdue!) and have made room for the mounds of marmalade which will shortly be forthcoming from my kitchen. I can’t remember if I mentioned it earlier in the week but I bought a small crate of oranges from Lidl at a crazy bargain price that made me unable to resist! And so, I’ve now got the capacity to make an enormous amount of marmalade – Christmas present, anyone?!

I’ve made several hearty winter meals recently, and had my first go at using my slow cooker. It seemed to be a success, but the contents were made for Jo and B, so you’ll have to ask them what it tasted like! I’ve also been getting my money’s worth out of my breadmaker, and enjoying the thought that I’m saving money by making it at home.

Tomorrow I have to get rid of an old armchair which is taking up too much space, make a couple of freezer meals to use up the pile of vegetables I bought earlier this week and then have a bit of a pre-weekend tidy-up.

So, in conclusion, I’m really looking forward to Sunday morning and a long sleep! Although, given the amount of projects I have in my head to make as Christmas presents, I’ll not have any time at all to sleep. And don’t even ask about NaNoWriMo; I’ve lost both the plot and the will to write!

  1. I love the Year of Crockpotting blog – http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

It has given me lots of brilliant ideas in the crockpot. Although my fav. was one I stumbled on by accident, Dolma’s in the Crockpot, posted the recipe here – http://aussiefarmersdirectchallenge.wordpress.com/2008/09/03/silverbeet-swiss-chard-dolmades-dolmas/

Right now I’ve got Beef Nambour (basically beef and pineapple) simmering in my crockpot ready for Hubbys dinner. He is working nightshift and gets home around 10.30am. So I got it all ready last night and put it in the fridge. At 3am I got up, tipped all the ingredients into the crockpot, turned it on and went back to sleep. So handy.

And my breadmaker, I’d marry it if I could. ๐Ÿ˜€

I just licked my plate clean, if that answers the question? ๐Ÿ˜‰
