Baby congratulations card

I thought I’d share my most recent crafting with you. I’m still working on the cardigan which I mentioned in a previous post, although I’m on the sleeves now so not too much left to do! I’ve found the loveliest oval blue buttons in my button box as well, which will look really good on the finished jacket.

Anyway, I took a break from my knitting this morning to make a card to send to my brother and sister in law to welcome my nephew into the world. I’m quite pleased with the result. I think it looks pretty good considering that it comes from someone without an artistic bone in her body! Aren’t rubber stamps a fabulous creation! (And yes, I did spend too much in Hobbycraft again!)

The little stamps on the envelope were a last minute impulse buy from Hobbycraft, as the set of mini-stampers were reduced in a sale. However, I’m glad I bought them as I think they look effective on the front of the envelope.

I decided to buy the stamper and card blanks as that way, whenever a baby is born to a friend or family member I can create a personalised card in the right colour for the new baby! And I think that sending a home made card really shows that you care, as the recipients can see the effort you’ve put in. I hope they like it!

I did make a bad purchase though. They were selling mini guillotines (6″x4″) at half price (£2.99) which I thought would be a good idea for cutting out the little pictures. However, after just a couple of cuts it started to struggle. I’ve not yet worked out whether or not I’ll be able to sharpen the blades. At least I didn’t waste too much money. And I’m very happy with the new stampers and ink pads which I bought at the same time. I now own a plain black ink pad (I’m sure I’ve already got one, but couldn’t for the life of me tell you where I’ve put it) as well as a tub of thirty small ink pads in assorted colours which were also in a sale. I can’t wait to have a house with space enough for a big cupboard just for my craft materials. It’ll make all my crafting so much easier!
