I'm Jennie, married (to Gadget Guy, or GG) with two children who will be referred to here as Handsome and Cheeky. I have been feeling that my brain was starting to go soft as the majority of the conversation I have is with people who still believe in Father Christmas and who believe that the biggest tragedy in life is being denied pudding! With this in mind, I decided to start a blog to express some of my thoughts and interests. I also want to reconnect with old friends who I haven't paid enough attention to in recent years, and also maybe pick up a few new friends along the way.
N -9!
Well, today is N-9 – 9 days to go until the fevered novel writing which is NaNoWriMo begins! I expect that 10 days from now I’ll be panicking because I’m already behind with my word count!
There’s a meet up on Tuesday night for NaNo writers from my area. I’m debating with myself whether to go or not. Will I be motivated by a group of people planning on having a go at this challenge, or disheartened by these people who will undoubtedly be better prepared for writing a novel in a month and will also probably have better ideas for their novels than I do! I think my main aim is to prove to myself that I can even get the 50,000 words from my brain onto the paper in the allotted time. If I succeed there, the plan is that next year I’ll actually think of something half-decent to write about!
I’ve almost decided to go to the meeting. Hubby suggests that I should go, buy a drink and stand at the bar assessing the situation before I introduce myself to anyone! Boy, am I glad that we didn’t meet on a blind date! He might have done this, taken one look at me and left!
Maybe I’ll pick up some preparation tips if I go. At the moment, my preparation mainly involves clearing space in my bedroom so that I have somewhere to work.
I only know one other person taking part in NaNo, so it would probably be good for mutual support if I met some other participants.
